I have been involved in the Adult Industry for 16 years and in that time have strived for success in this extremely competitive world. Whilst I may be in the Sex Industry I am still a citizen of the world and have thoughts and opinions like any of you. I am concerned with the way our political system has degenerated into apathetic responses to the needs of the community. To help solve this and to voice my concerns I have decided to run for the Lower House seat of Melbourne in the forthcoming State election on the 30th of November.

All of us have an interest in Sex, although none of our politicians seems to want to mention it. Lets get this important subject out there, in the open where it should be.

My slogan is BUCK the System, Vote One for Maxines.

Vote for me and I promise to represent your wishes, concerns and needs, like no one else can, or has ever done.
I am available for comment or interviews on 0413 74 00 77.

My policies include

1. An increase in sentences for violent crimes or those of a serious or heinous nature

2. An increase in police numbers, in particular the reformation of the Victoria Police Vice Squad to monitor and control the Sex Industry.

3. The provision in the Sentencing Act to permanently imprison those persons deemed to be unfit for release as a result of their crimes or behavior in prison, i.e. Julian Knight for example.

4. Regulate the sale of NVE X rated material by licensing council approved premises. Increase penalties for the sale of X from unlicensed premises.

5. The abolition of Safe houses or safe zones for sex workers. I do not support street prostitution in any form.

6. Increase in funding for drug awareness and rehabilitation or treatment for drug-affected persons.

7. A code of conduct for the Adult Industry excluding Prostitution (although that does need a major overhaul)

My Political Diary
8th November, 2002
The campaign begins in full swing. Although I have just started the campaign I was lucky enough to feature in two separate articles in the Herald Sun today.I was also interviewed by ex Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett on his 3AK drive time program I have to say sorry to Jeff for saying to him when he said, surely you cant expect to win ‘why can’t I win, look at Steve Bracks he got in.’ There was a little bit of silence on the other end of the radio after that comment. Also a big thank you to Stan Zemanak on 3AW for his interview. I think I made Stan a little anxious when I asked him to place a ‘tick in my box’ on polling day.

Stan and Jeff you’re two gorgeous boys and thanks for
interviews. I also met with my campaign team and stay tuned for some more developments on the campaign trail. Keep checking back here for more information and events.

Maxine’s as a political candidate nominates – as only Maxine can of course. I had my own four representatives, deliciously attired in a Sexy School Girl outfit, representing my education policy, Head Nurse, representing health issues, a Sexy Cop representing Law and order and finally a hot looking nun representing Morals and Censorship.

My nomination was covered on Channel Seven news. I also spoke to that gorgeous boy, Stan Zemanek again on his 3AW program. Who know I may even be taken under his wing…..

The Melbourne Times also did a feature article on my burgeoning campaign, check out page 5, I will quote, ‘Escort agency owner Maxine Fensom has ensured that the challenges from the greens and ALP defector Kevin Chamberlain will not grab all the publicity in the election campaign for the state seat of Victoria.’

So lets keep the candidates guessing, keep them on their toes.

Stay tuned for some very important updates.

Make Community Safety a Real Issue in This Election

Today I have called on the major parties to face up to the inadequate standards of community safety in this State. Pointing to parallels between the case involving disgraced footballer Gary Ablett and safety issues in the sex industry, I am seeking a harder line on the sentencing of those individuals who violate the rights of innocent members of our community.

“How much is a life worth, $1500 - I don’t think so,”

“This is a disgrace, I cannot believe the Attorney General, Mr Hulls, is refusing to pursue this matter further with the Director of Public Prosecutions.”

I am particularly concerned about the message this case sends to workers in the sex industry.

“In my area of business the risks to workers’ personal safety is often higher than other lines of work. Everyone is entitled to feel they have laws and sanctions that provide forceful deterrents against violence and other abuse,”

I believe the current sentencing levels in Victoria do not reflect the community sentiment. I am seeking a commitment from the Government and Opposition that they will outline policies that provide Victorians an appropriate level of safety in their homes, on the street and in their places of work.

A public statement from the Greens (Victoria)

Greens statement on X-Rated materials and Code of Conduct for the Sex Industry

The Victorian Greens support the stand taken by independent candidate for Melbourne Maxine Fenson who wants to see the legal sale of federally classified X- rated material, to adults from council-approved adult stores. The right to purchase this material is enshrined in the party platforms of all major political parties in Australia yet most support legislation that is out of kilter with these platforms.

X rated films in Victoria are legal to possess and purchase; only the sale is prohibited.
The Victorian Greens recognise that this anomaly has created an ever-increasing black market with adult material now being sold through petrol stations and weekend markets in full view of minors

The Greens support Ms Fenson’s campaign for the establishment of a licensing system similar to that operating in the ACT. Operators wishing to sell X rated would apply for a license and undergo appropriate checks. They would be restricted to selling only federally classified X- rated videos.

The Greens also support Ms Fenson’s campaign for the establishment of a Code of Conduct for all areas of the Victorian adult industry. Escort agencies and brothels operate under strict health and safety regulations. Health and safety regulations need to be investigated for other adult businesses such as the stripping industry.

The Sexpo Diaries
The days have flown by recently with Sexpo, which was a lot of work but a great success for my political campaign. It is interesting to note that I invited every politician in the state of Victoria to a public debate regarding the legalisation of NVE erotica and other sex issues and not one person had the bravery or the strength of their convictions to show up.

Sad to see how our politicians are banning NVE material but can’t actually tell us why or explain their actions.

I was also on the Bruce Mansfield late night talk show. Whilst I don’t think I was Bruce’s most favourite guest the least he could have done was get my surname right. Oh well……

Monday 25th November, 2002
Channel Nine was kind enough to do a small feature on my political aspirations on their Today program. It’s the final week of the campaign and things are starting to hot up. Stay tuned for some more developments.

Thursday 28th November, 2002

Channel Nine and Ten featured my political campaign in their wind - up of the election campaign. The votes are almost cast, the clock is ticking down to the faithful day.

VOTE ONE MAXINES!!

Saturday 30th November, 2002

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to hand out my literature and how to vote cards. The weather was amazingly cold and windy and you guys (and girls) stood by me. Your support is amazing. Now lets count those votes!

The Battle of the Pin Stripes

Channel Seven hit the nail on the head with their story on me this evening. The battle of the Pin Stripes with Bronwyn Pike wearing a very similar suit to mine on my how to vote card. I thought she looked great, but no one wears a suit like me.

Election Night

Whilst the votes are being counted, and the land slide is carrying Labor to their victory I would like to thank all those who supported me in this campaign. I had a lot of fun and it was a great experience. Whilst I may not have won the election I am more than proud to say that I took part. If at the very least you can say that you tried something, then you are the winner.

Congratulations to Bronwyn Pike and all the other candidates for Melbourne District and also to all those who won and to those who took part.

Now for some fun stuff, I was interviewed for Channel Ten for their live cross over, direct form the tally room, which was a lot of fun. I also ran into the gorgeous Nick McCallum from the Today show on Channel Nine. Nick invited me on air from their booth for 3AW and I met up with Neil Mitchell. (Both are gorgy boys and of course Neil went up in my estimation as he had one of my calendars close by his side....)

More updates to follow

Monday 2nd December, 2002

The election may be over, but the votes are still being counted. I was on Stan Zemanak's show once again on 3AW, he is a lovely guy and throughout the campaign I met a number of people whose kindness and support made it a lot easier for me. Thanks.

The results are in - Thursday 5th December, 2002

Congratulations to all candidates but most of all to Bronwyn Pike from the ALP. After many weeks of campaigning my hat goes off to all those who took part and I am amazed at the amount of work required. I had a great campaign and a truly memorable experience. I certainly learnt a lot about myself and people in general. I would like to thank
everyone who voted for me and of course, everyone who helped me in any way. A BIG THANK YOU!

Thursday 5th December, 2002

The campaign may be over but I thought I would add this little article from the Melbourne Times, published December, 4, 2002.I quote from Page 12.

Former stripper Maxine Fensom hasn't been able to win even 1 per cent of the primary vote in the lower house seat of Melbourne.

Now I was going to leave this article alone, turn the other cheek but a few things have to be pointed out -

  • I didn't see this journalists name on any voting material - in fact their name isn't even on the article.

  • At least I had a go, I exercised my democratic right, and had a lot of fun doing it.

  • For God's sake do some research on what my previous occupation was!!!

  • Last but not least, a little tip from a non journalist but avid reader, if you are going to spell my surname keep it the same throughout the article....... (you got to love people who take the time to proof read what they write - but then it's hard to read with your nose stuck so far up in the air.)

Well that's me signing off on the election campaign trail Have a great Christmas.
